The capital of Indonesia, Jakarta is the center of government, commerce and industry. How to get the AIT 2013 conference venue.
AIT 2013 will be held at Aryaduta Hotel, Jakarta. The airport nearby is Jakarta International Soekarno-Hatta Airport. As for immigration, please check the VISA status of your home country, and Japanese and other nationalities need no preparation but pay 25USD (US Dollar only!) to obtain "VISA on arrival."
From the airport, you should use a taxi to reach the conference site. For most foreigners, it is strongly recommended to use BlueBird Group (BlueBird and SilverBird) because they bring you there by meter; other taxis need price negotiation, which will be difficult for foreginers.
The conference site is Hotel Aryaduta, Jalan Prapatan 44-48, Menten, Jakarta. The taxi driver is likely to know the hotel, but just in case, you should bring a note of the hotel name and address with you. It will take one hour from the airport to the hotel.
Transportation
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) is Jakarta’s major airport and Indonesia’s primary international gateway. It is used by both private and commercial carriers connecting Jakarta with other Indonesian cities and international destinations. It is the busiest airport in Indonesia, serving 34 millions passengers each year. A second airport, Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport (HLP) serves mostly private and presidential flights. Jakarta is connected to 67 cities around the world.
Blue Bird and Silver Bird Taxi
Several taxi companies provide transportation services in Jakarta and you can get easily to place where you want to go. From the airport to the conference venue, Hotel Aryaduta, one of trustful taxi company named Blue Bird Group is recommended to avoid troubles. Blue bird taxi group has some brands including blue bird, silver bird and so on. If you move to the conference venue comfortably from the airport, you may take a silver bird taxi with some extra-pay. You can get the venue for less than only $30 USD from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK). These blue bird taxi group clearly shows its brand on the front glass of the car or side of the body. Please pay attention to take a taxi because you may find some fake blue birds with similar body color and emblem.
Climate
Jakarta has a hot and humid equatorial climate. The wet season rainfall peak is January with monthly average rainfall of 350 millimeters and the dry season low point is August with a monthly average of 60 millimeters. The city is humid throughout the year with daily temperature range 25 degree C to 38 degree C (77° to 100°F).
